Songs of Insurrection by J.C. Kang

Good morning Reader today is my tour stop for dragonsongstour by caffeinebooktours  huge thanks for them for providing me with a copy beforehand for my participation in the tour.

P L O T : Princess Kaiya’s voice could charm a dragon.

Had she lived when the power of music could still summon typhoons and rout armies, perhaps Cathay’s imperial court would see her as more than a singing fool. With alliances to build and ambitious lords to placate, they care more about her marriage prospects than her voice.

When members of the emperor’s elite spy clan-- Kaiya’s childhood friend Tian and his half-elf sidekick (or maybe he’s her sidekick?)-- discover mere discontent boiling over into full-scale rebellion, Kaiya must choose. Obediently wedding the depraved ringleader means giving up her music. Confronting him with the growing power of her voice could kill her.

The Female Protagonist ✅ :
First things first, kaiya is so amazing I love her c'mon. I'm a sucker for badass female characters and yes she is everything I love.

The Representation ✅ :
How often is that we come across Asian Representation in a fantasy book? Very very rare and yes we've fantasy reps that made this book more special for me.

Spies and Court Dramas ✅ :
Court dramas with spies working underground unraveling mysteries and imperial court drama oh yes I'm here for it.

Discovery of Our Own Power
I love how Kaiya who was unsure of her own strength slowly discovered the power that lies in herself. Slowly growing confident out herself yes!

Vivid Description of Scenes
The writing style and description of places blew me away. It was so good, not too much, nor too less, just the perfect amount a reader needs to imagine scenarios.
